The Barlows Patio Problem Area
The Barlows Problem Patio AreaThe Barlows of Cedar Rapids, Iowa had a big problem! Their unusable hot patio had no shade and was closed in on three sides. There was no breeze and lots of bugs rendering this area inhospitable.

John and Mary are retired and really wanted to use this area. The Barlows did what many other area homeowners have done, they turned to Cedar Rapids area remodeling contractor Home Town Restyling for help!

Home remodeling expert, Ray Goodall of Home Town Restyling saw an opportunity to create beautiful living space out of a 14×22 previously unusable space. Ray designed the perfect solution to solve this problem area… A new Temo Sunroom!

Home Town Restyling installed a 4 1/4 inch structural polystyrene roof with double pane glass and screen wall systems and a full view door. The insulated roof was an instant success keeping the sun and heat off the patio and from coming into the house. The added ceiling fan coupled with windows that open and screens to keep the bugs out made a very hostile environment quickly the most used room in the house.

An Amana heating and cooling unit was added providing a comfortable year round living space. An additional door into the hallway increased access and tongue and groove cedar on back and side walls enhanced the interior appeal of their new insulated sunroom. The Barlows have repeatedly thanked Ray and the Home Town crew for a job well done! “What used to be a very inhospitable area is now our favorite room!”
